Thai Omkoi

Our Thai Omkoi selection comes from the many villages surrounding Doi Mon Jong in the Mae Tuen Sub-disctict of Omkoi in Chiang Mai Province.  Fairly thick fog typically covers Doi Mon Jong throughout the year, with quite heavy rains during the monsoon season.  Temperatures begin to drop in late October with frost levels persistent from December to February at higher elevations, thus coffee grows best in this region at a maximum of 1,400 meters above sea level (MASL).

This region’s ethnic Karen communities are producing more and more complex tasting “Natural coffees” (dry processed) as are found in this single origin selection.  Part of what elevates this coffee’s flavour quality is that it is made up of Caturra and Catuai (Typica) tree varieties in addition to the Catimor trees found predominantly in Northern Thailand’s other coffee growing regions.

Tasting notes: Wild mountain field flowers, hints of honey, and tangerine.
